Three Months of Growth and Learning

As the “intern season” comes to a close, it is a good time to reflect on my past three months at Jackrabbit Design. My internship here has been an enriching experience, filled with a variety of projects that extended well beyond my original title of Project Coordinator Intern. And yes, I’m writing this post with just a hint of flattery, hoping to score some bonus points with my bosses—because who doesn’t want to end on a high note?

A Tailored Learning Experience

One of the standout aspects of my internship has been the personalized approach to my learning. The team at Jackrabbit made sure that my experience was tailored to what I hoped to learn, even if it meant crossing job descriptions. This flexible approach allowed me to gain an understanding of the various facets of the company. They offered me a range of learning opportunities from one-on-one lessons with different team members, to educational presentations, and mock scenarios where I can practice skills without fear of messing up.

Supportive Check-Ins

Check-ins with higher-level team members were a highlight of my internship. These meetings were not just about tracking progress but also about expressing genuine interest in my career goals and what I hoped to get out of this experience. This level of support made me feel valued and prepared for my next career step.

Balancing Creative Work and Routine Tasks

Being an intern often means tackling the bottom-of-the-barrel tasks. However, the Rabbits ensured that my workload was balanced. For every repetitive or “mind-numbing task” intern task, I was also assigned something creative to work on. This approach allowed me to give my brain much-needed breaks and stay engaged throughout my internship.

The Small Company Advantage

Working at a small company like Jackrabbit Design has its unique advantages. In a smaller setting, you’re not overlooked; you’re a vital part of the team. While there are pros and cons to both big and small companies, I found that in this environment, I had more responsibility and a stronger voice. This experience has given me a greater sense of involvement and ownership in my work.

Conclusion

Overall, my internship at Jackrabbit has been an incredible journey of growth, learning, and hands-on experience. The blend of creative and routine tasks, coupled with the supportive and personalized environment, has prepared me well for my next career step. I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such a dynamic team and look forward to applying what I’ve learned in my future endeavors.
